Music Soothing Stress

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Music is helpful for soothing stress. When a person is overwhelmed by stress, they often feel like a victim in a continuing storm. When a person feels down and out they often neglect responsibilities, fail to do their best, and ponder over their problems using the emotions to weigh them down. The sound of music can often help us to appreciate the finer things in life. If you are ready to get started relieving stress then have a seat in a comfortable area of the room and let your mind wander, focusing on nothing bad.

Place a set of headphones over your ears, choosing your favorite tunes and rock and roll with the band. Singing along with the musicians is also helpful for relieving stress. Pretend you are a musician in a band and ready to entertain the world. Pretend that everyone loves your music and voice and let the lyrics flow. Jam…Jam…Jam. After you do this for a short while, you will feel the tension release from your body and mind. Let the music take you in and keep you until you feel you got it all under control. If you like to dance then by all means, do so. This is great for relieving stress since you are exercising the body and mind. Dance the night away if you choose, just do not forget that you have obligations and loose track of the time. Rest is also important to relieving or minimizing stressors that cause stress. You have the floor so hold it like it is gold. You belong in this world of fantasy, fun and illusion. The sound is pounding in your head de-voiding you of any thoughts that causes your stress to override the night. Feel the beat as you listen to the sounds and allow it to take you into a problem-free environment. If you are not having fun yet then your stress level is in full control. How much better can it get than leaving the world and its problems behind temporarily to find a source of peace? Your mind is free, your body is flawless of tension and your world is fabulous. Great fun for everyone! There are many types of music in existence, but mostly what we enjoy is the best technique for relieving stress. If you prefer to listen to music without sound, then lie back on your bed, kick out your feet and let the music take you into a journey of fantasy. Soundless music is great for relaxing the mind and often puts us to sleep where problems are buried in the subconscious mind temporarily. Hey, I know it is hard and everyone of us has to deal with stress. The upside is stress is useful when we keep a positive outlook on life.

We can vision our self in a world of fun and entertainment or we can vision our self in a troublesome world. There are many techniques for relieving stress but I found that music helps everyone that is suffering stress more efficiently than any other source. The gift of music provides us a release and a source for getting in touch with our creative and artistic side. You may claim you cannot draw, write, or even dance but when you let the music set you free then you might find yourself on a Big Screen TV dancing for a major band. Do not underestimate your abilities or talents. Music is a feeling and feelings are emotions. Therefore, music puts you in touch with your feelings and emotions. Now get up on the floor and dance like a stark raving manic if you like.

Finally, we can look back through the history of music and see how music has helped millions relieve stress. The musicians might feel overwhelmed but in thousands of homes worldwide, their music set someone else’s mind free. Music teaches us to let go of things that are out of our control and helps us to learn how others think, feel and believe. We can hear between the lines that everyone has stress when we listen to the thousands of voices blaring music in our ears.

Music CD-R And Data CD-R

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

People who are new to computers and duplication, will
sometims confuse CD-R music media with CD-R data
media.  While confusing them is easy to do, the
two are different indeed.  Even if you have some
experience with computers, confusing them is very
easy to do.

As you may or may not know, there are differences
between music CD-R and data CD-R disks.  The obvious
difference is, of course, the name.  With one
named CD-R music and one named CD-R data, you
know there has to be some type of difference
between the two.

What’s known is that there are indeed technical
differences in what is embedded in blank music
CDs when compared to blank data CDs.  These
differences center upon bytes that are within
the sub channels of the blank music disks.

This doesn’t affect the quality, as both audio
and data can be duplicated onto both music CD-R
disks and data CD-R disks.  You can burn data onto
music CD-R, and music onto data CD-R media
without any problems.  Keep in mind, whether or
not you get data on a music CD-R will depend
on what type of hardware you use to duplicate
the CD.

If you plan to use a PC to do all of your burning,
it won’t matter.  A PC doesn’t differentiate
between music CD-R and data CD-R.  PCs will see
a blank media CD and duplicate information on it
that pertains to the settings you have outlined
in the software you plan to use to burn the CD.

If you plan to use a seperate CD burner, it
may or may not let you burn data or music on
a generic blank or data CD-R.  Some hardware
are funny like that, as they only want you to
use blank media with well known brand names
that they have approved of.

If you plan to do most of your CD duplication
on a computer, it really doesn’t matter which
type of blank CD-R you use.  They will both
work fine in most cases when you store either
music or data.  When storing data, you have a
limit of 700 MB, while music will have a limit
of a little over an hour of tunes.

For your duplication needs, computers are the
ideal way to copy media.  You can use equipment
outside of a computer and CD burner, although
you’ll need to check the operations manual
and see what they recommend for media.  If you
have a computer or access to one, it can do
wonders in the areas of music and data CD-R
duplication.

Musical Themed Paintings

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Musical themed paintings can be fun to find and fun to buy.  I have a musician friend that recently purchased a new home.  She bought new furnishings and asked me to find a new painting for her.  I found her a fabulous creation by Osnat.  It was an enormous, gallery size painting.

My friend’s new furnishings were very contemporary and the Osnat musical themed painting I bought for her was breathtaking when all five parts were mounted.  The musical staff ran the length of the painting with musical notes painted on it.  The painting had pretty shades of yellows and oranges.  It looked so elegant.

I found a still life musical themed painting of a guitar to buy for a friend.  He always has had beautiful pieces of art in his home and he wanted to change some of the pieces he had grown tired of.  The abstract piece that I found really struck a cord with my friend and he ended up buying another painting from the same artist.

I found a painting that was called Music of Fire that didn’t really seem to have a musical theme.  I showed it to a friend and she told me that the flames looked like they were dancing.  She told me that I was using a very narrow definition of musical themed paintings when I was buying art.

Abstract guitars really seem to be my favorite musical themed paintings.  I like to buy them when they jump out at me.  There is an artist named Slazo that is very prolific with his musical themed guitar paintings.  He has had a lot of exhibitions in Florida.

A friend of mine asked me to find artwork by an Armenian named Aram Koupetzian.  I was able to find a musical themed painting called Rondo by this artist.  It was really intriguing.  I’ve never purchased a painting in the Cubist style before.  The exact style of this musical themed painting was Synthetic Cubism.  I liked it a lot.  There is a lot to look at in the painting.

A couple of years ago, a good friend of mine graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree.  He had a double major of music and education.  He got a job as an assistant band director at a middle school in Austin.  As a combination graduation and new job present, I bought him a musical themed painting.

The musical themed painting that I chose was painting by Tilo Rothacker that depicted a jazz musician playing a trumpet.  It was so very colorful and it felt a lot like New Orleans.  My friend and I had visited the French Quarter several times together.  This musical themed painting celebrated his life changes and our friendship perfectly.

My younger sister is quite the accomplished violinist.  She moved to New York and went to Juilliard.  Her path changed after a couple of years in New York.  She stopped pursuing the violin as a career, but her love for her music never waned.  I bought her a musical themed painting when she bought her apartment.  It was a contemporary abstract with brilliant rich jewel tones that depicted a woman violinist.

I was looking for musical themed paintings one day when I found Melody of Sunset for sale.  I’m not sure why this painting bothered me so much.  The woman was playing the piano, but she seems disembodied and strange.  Her eyes were closed.  This musical themed painting just did not strike a cord with me and I did not buy it.

My favorite musical themed painting in a long time was The Sound of Jazz.  It was painted by Sarah Kinan and it is gorgeous.  It is hard for me to not smile when I’m looking into this painting.  The background looks like confetti and the foreground is filled with musical instruments.  This musical themed painting can be described as feeling like a party.

Noh – A Japanese Musical Drama

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Developed in the fourteenth century, Nogaku, Noh or No, is a type of Japanese musical dramas. Its roots can be traced to the Sarugaku, the Chinese Nuo Theater. The actors and musicians of Noh never practice or rehearse together. Each of them practices the movement, dances and songs separately under a senior tutor.

The traditional kagura stages are the inspiration of the traditional Noh Theater stages. Hinoki or Japanese cypress wood is the architecture material used commonly. There are four pillars to support the roof. They are placed according to some directions and each have a particular name. Shite-bashira is the back left pillar and is the point for shite to sit or stand.  Waki-bashira is the front right pillar used by Waki as the point of performance. Fue-bashira is the back right corner and used by the flute player. Metsuke-bashira is the pillar which Shite faces and is also known as the looking-pillar.

Shite, waki, kyogen and hayashi are the four categories that Noh performers can be divided into. Shite or the doers are the original character of the drama. He is first a human being or Maeshite and then plays the role of a ghost or Nochijite. Tsure is the friend acquaintance of Shite. Waki is the villain and obstructs the path of Shite. Wakizure is the friend of Waki. Kyogen performs Aikyogen during the breaks in the play. Hayashis plays the four instruments of Noh, which are flute or Fue, stick drum or Taiko, hip drum or Okawa Otsuzumi and shoulder drum or Kotsuzumi. The chorus comprises of nearly eight people and is known as Jiutai. The helpers are known as Koken.

The stories of Noh drama can be divided into five categories broadly, although there are different types of division. They are Kami Mono, Shura Mono, Katsura Mono, Kiri No and miscellaneous plays. The timing of these plays can range between thirty minutes to two hours. Kami mono also known as Waki No depicts the Shite as a human in the beginning and later on taking the form of deity and usually has some mythological story based on some god. Shura mono or Asura No, shows the Shite playing the character of ghost first and then later playing the role of warrior and recreating the scene of his death. In katsura mono or Onna Mono, a woman plays the Shite character that dances and sings very beautifully. Kiri No or Oni Mono shows Shite in the form of a devil, monster or goblin. Under the miscellaneous plays, Onryo Mono or mischievous ghosts plays Genzai Mono or everyday plays, and Kyoran Mono or madness plays are included.

The styles can be divided into Geki Noh style and Furyu Noh style. Geki Noh are plays involving acting and along with which action is involved. Fruyu Noh are the plays involving dancing and singing only. There are different types of mood in Noh theater art. Mugen Noh involve supernatural characters such as ghosts, demons, and deities. Story keeps juggling between the past, present, and future. Genzai Noh portrays the travails of day to day life.

The costumes are very heavily worked and are designed according to the role played by the actor wearing it. Like serpents have consecutive triangles like the scales. The costume of the Shite is made up of expensive work of silk or brocade. The chorus and instrumentalists wear the formal Montsuki Kimono with the Hakama or shirt. The helpers wear completely black outfits. Masks are worn while playing characters of gods, demons, animals, or even a female played by a man. Shite wears a mask usually. All the characters have a hand fan while on stage. They either carry it in hand or in their pocket. The drama is still very popular in Japan and continues to attract more and more people towards it mainly due it’s interesting style and characterization.

Music for a New Years Eve Party

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

If you are planning a New Years Eve party, one of the most important elements of the party planning is the music you plan to play at the party. Making preparations for the food, beverages, entertainment, decorations, favors and other elements of the party are all very important but the music at the party are critical to the success of the party and can help to determine whether or not the guests have a good time. This article will discuss some of the options for music at a New Years Eve party and will provide information on implementing these options.

Hiring a band is one very popular option for providing music for a New Years Eve party. However, there are some considerations which should be mulled over before deciding to hire a band. One of these important considerations is the amount of space required for the band to set up and perform. This is important especially if you are hosting the party in your home. Before signing a contract with a band, you should have a representative from the band visit the space and determine if there is enough room available. The noise ordinances should also be considered when hiring a band for a New Years Eve party. Again this is most important if you are hosting the party in your home. When hiring a band you should also consider whether or not the band will appeal to the majority of the guests at your New Years Eve party. This is especially important if you will have guests from a number of different generations at your party.

Another option for proving music at your New Years Eve party is to hire a DJ to perform at the party. This is a good idea because DJs typically play a wide variety of music and are skilled at reading the audience and determining which types of music will appeal to the audience. They are also typically good at encouraging audience participation. Again, it is important to consider noise ordinances when hiring a DJ to entertain at your New Years Eve party. Your DJ will likely be aware of these ordinances particularly if he works in the area often but you should still discuss this with the DJ before signing a contract to ensure he will comply with these regulations.

One inexpensive option for providing music for your guests at your New Years Eve party is to be your own DJ. If you have an extensive CD collection, you can insert a number of these into a disk changer and set the changer to play randomly. Changing the CDs throughout the night will keep the music fresh throughout the party. Another idea is to ask each guest to bring five of their own CDs to the party. Each guest can then take turns playing DJ for a half hour to an hour. This is a fun way to provide music for your guests and also helps to ensure each guest will hear some music they enjoy during the party. Still another option for providing your own music during your New Years Eve party is to set up a satellite radio system and attach it to speakers. You can set the satellite to a station featuring upbeat dance music or music which accompanies the theme of the New Years Eve party.

Still another inexpensive option for providing musical entertainment for your New Years Eve party is to rent a karaoke machine and encourage the guests to provide their own entertainment. Karaoke can be a great deal of fun especially for a group of guests who are willing to participate in the fun. If you have a theme for the New Years Eve party, you can provide songs for the karaoke machine which relate to the theme. If there is not a specific theme for the New Years Eve party, you can select a selection of songs which are likely to be popular with your guests.

Types of Music Podcasts

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Many music podcasts are available online, distributed
by podcasters who want to share their collection with
the world. Some of these are distributed by independent
musicians, groups or individuals who enjoy creating
and sharing their music but have a small fanbase. For
them, a podcast means closer contact with their
listeners, and the blog that usually accompanies a
podcast often allows for the comments and opinions of
the listeners to be shared with the musicians. The
listeners often appreciate this close contact, and some
become resentful when their favorite groups gain
widespread popularity. Musicians may find that the
music podcast they share is a way to build a following
and gain an audience that is loyal to them. Since many
of the musicians who podcast do so as independent
artists who lack the sound the music industry is looking
for or simply haven’t been noticed yet, a music podcast
may build a following that attracts attention to them and
gives them an entry point into the music industry.

For others, a music podcast may be the chance to
become a dj, and the episodes they share will contain
mixes of different songs, highlighting obscure yet
accomplished artists and taking their listeners on a tour
every episode. These amateurs podcast merely because
they enjoy the activity, as most independent podcasters
do. Yet another type of music podcast, however,
involves the online radio station. While some radio
stations have taken the leap to the internet by offering
streaming connections to their current playlist, others
have accepted the podcast as a way of sharing their
music. Such a style is very similar to the amateur dj, but
brings a level of professionalism that is not found with
the amateur podcasters.

A music podcast may also be a way to sample works by
more well known artists before purchasing. Some
musicians and groups will podcast their new music, or
portions of the new pieces, in order to peak interest in
the songs before release. Fans get to listen to the music
and find out what they might like before purchasing the
whole album. A possibility, however, is that music
podcasts become subscription based, and musicians
begin charging for access to the feed. The online sale of
music has proved its popularity, with Apple’s iTunes
reaching its one billionth paid download recently. A
music group could conceivably offer a feed to its fans
that they could pay for, and regularily update it with
new songs that would be downloaded directly to the
fan’s computers Although this distribution model is not
yet in place, it seems to fit with the over all trend.
Already, some nonmusic groups have agreed to podcast
their files, on the condition that a paid subscription is
bought.

Fun Wedding Music Activities

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Music is as much a component of a good wedding as food and drink. You can have a wedding without music, but it’s likely it will seem a little quiet and dull. So whether you have a full live band, a string quartet, a DJ spinning tunes or recorded music from a boom box, it should be included.

But music’s not just for dancing. There are a myriad of activities you can plan around the music that will add an element of fun to your wedding.

One popular idea is to play musical chairs. Sure, this is a fun kid’s game and you don’t want to insult your guests in any way, but you can have some fun with this version of musical chairs. The chairs can be just about anything, from chairs lined up from the food tables, to the floor, if you think your guests might be open to sitting on the floor (and then having to get up and down again). One fun option is to use the men as the chairs – they kneel on the floor, with one knee on the floor and the other bent. The women sit lightly on the men’s’ knees as they are playing musical chairs. When either the man or woman falls down, that couple is out, until one couple is left.

Some brides and grooms like to play musical chairs in order to give away the table centerpiece, which many guests like to take home. Instead of assigning a number and awarding the centerpiece to the person in possession of that number, you have each table play musical chairs until the person left standing is the one that gets to take home the centerpiece.

How about a rousing game of “name that tune”? This is a game that’s best for a smaller, intimate wedding where everyone knows the bride and groom well. Prior to the wedding, whoever is planning the wedding should get a list of favorite songs of both the bride and groom. Create a CD of those songs, and then create a game of “name that tune”. Guests can be divided into teams and then be played just a small snippet of each song.

After guests hear that first snippet, they can then “bid” on how quickly they can name the tune. So one group might say they can name the tune in 10 seconds, while the other group might say 5 seconds. Once one group has bowed out, the other group will then have to “name that tune”. This is a fun game that gets everyone involved and which the bride and groom are particularly delighted by.

Depending on the style of the wedding, there are many fun games you can play to get the bride and groom out on the dance floor. Now, if this is a very large and very elegant wedding, this option might not work since there is certain decorum to maintain, but for a casual, fun, family-centered wedding some of these games can be fun.

If guests want to “call out” the wedding couple onto the dance floor, they can be asked to get out on the dance floor themselves first and hula hoop or perform their own version of a break dance. Much in the way guests sometimes have to “perform” to get the couple the kiss this is another way to get the guests involved and having fun in order to create fun wedding memories for the bride and groom.

College Scholarship for Students with Interests in Music

Education is the key for a successful career, which is why it is the primary responsibility of all parents to send their children to school. Although education is a necessity, not all parents are able to fund their children’s schooling. Others usually stop after they graduate from high school.

This is truly happening in almost any part of the world, and according to statistics, the number is increasing year after year. And this is probably why the government and other private organizations are looking for ways to give scholarships to capable students with limited financial resources.

Students are not alike; in fact, each individual has his/her own distinct characteristic and talent. Some students have talents in the arts, dancing, singing, and music. Now, there are scholarships for particular fields of interest. And if you do love music very much, there are a lot of scholarships for college music.

Music is very popular, and many students are becoming interested in this certain area. Although some parents may not like their children to pursue a career in music (because what they want is a more stable career), students have a choice.

Here is a list of some of the music scholarships available for students:

1.    vocal scholarship from Bel Canto; this foundation awards over $15,000 to opera singers with ages ranging from 20-37 who want to pursue an opera career in America
2.    John Lennon program for BMI scholarship; this is a scholarship awarded to songwriters who are able to write original compositions. But you can only take advantage of this scholarship if you are invited
3.    Scholarship award by String Magazine; this is open for students who are currently in undergraduate program; the award is usually based on academic merit, community service and financial need.
4.    FAME also awards college scholarships for students who are nominated for professional achievement for senior college students.

The internet can provide you with a wide range of music scholarship resources. There are different websites which you can visit, and once you’re in their site, see what requirements are needed in order to qualify for the scholarship.

Almost any big university offers a form of scholarship, check with their registrar for scholarship information. There are universities in your local area, take time to visit them. It would be best if you make a list of the different college scholarships awarded to students with interest in music.

Music is a field of interest which only very few individuals take interest. So if you’re one of the few people struggling to get a college degree in music, begin your search for the scholarship. If you think, you can pass the required qualifications, go and take the chance.

Like any other student dreaming of a life in college, you should not be discouraged by the difficulty that you’re now facing. People have problems, and that can’t be avoided.

Financial constraints are not enough to stop you from getting that college education. Choose the best option available for you. This is your way to a dazzling career in the near future.

You are a gifted individual. Share your talent with other people, and show them your love for music. And who knows, you might just be the one that the music industry is waiting for all these years.

Music studio in a garage

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Music is your hobby and you want to practice with your band.
The only available place that you can think of is your garage but you
also have neighbors that must not be disturbed while you are
practicing. The only solution to use your garage as a music
studio is to soundproof it or build a small studio in one corner of
the garage. For this you need to use two existing garage walls
and build another two new walls on an angle to improve the
acoustics of the studio.

After measuring the angle you will have to anchor sole plates to
the garage floor and frame the first new wall. After finishing the
framing for the second wall and adding a door to this one you
have to insulate the garage walls to help deaden the sounds. Next
you will hang drywall on the new walls and patch the seams. The
final layer of sound-deadening material will be applied to the
walls and to the ceiling. This layer is made of some secondhand
carpeting. After applying these carpets you can cover them with
some strip boards pinned onto the wall with nails.

Musicians And CD Duplication

Monday, June 28th, 2010

These days, technology is always available for any
inspiring musician to record, create, and even
duplicate CDs.  The duplication of CDs will involve
CD-R media.  CD-R media prices have dropped a lot
over the last several years, making them affordable
for anyone who wants to use them.

If your band is ready to start selling CDs, your
best option may be to have your CDs replicated.
Replicated CDs are the same CDs that you’ll find
in music stores by major label artists.  They all
have excellent artwork printed on the CD inserts,
nice tray card inserts, screened art on the CD,
and they are even shrink wrapped.

The retail CDs that you buy aren’t duplicated, they
are replicated.  This means that an exact replica
of your master CD has been stamped out on all of
the other CDs.  If you are serious about selling
your music for profit, replication is the way to
go.

The fact is, most stores simply won’t sell duplicated
CDs.  Duplicated CDs can be against the law,
which is the main reason retail stores simply
won’t carry them.  Replicated CDs let the stores
know that the CD is legit, and they will almost
always carry those CDs.

For musicians and inspiring bands, CD duplication
can tend to be a bit more expensive than that
of replication.  To duplicate CDs, you need a
computer with a CD burner, your CD-R media, cases,
and a lot of man hours.

With CD replication, you can get many more copies,
professional artwork, a barcode for inventory, and
cases included.  Replication is obviously to
expensive for those looking to simply back up
pictures and data on a personal computer, although
the prices are just right for musicians looking
to make profit off of their CDs
